Ryan Dodd is Back in Saskatoon!

THE SASKATOON WATERSKI CLUB PLAYS HOST TO PENDING WORLD RECORD HOLDER RYAN DODD

The Saskatoon Water-ski Club is gearing up for the season, and in preparation has brought in one of Canada’s best to help Saskatoon skiers prepare for the start of the tournament season. As it happens, the coach, national team member and professional water ski jumper broke the world record in jump just this past weekend.

On July 1, as the rest of the country was preparing to celebrate Canada’s 150th, Ryan leapt to new heights, accelerating to over 70mph toward a 6 foot floating jump ramp and then flying 254 feet (77.4m) to set a pending world record in jump.

The massive jump took place at a record capable event at Stillwater lakes, in Palm Bay, Florida. The previous record of 250 feet was held by an American skier, Freddy Kruger – set back in 2014. It’s been 15 years since a Canadian has held the world record in jump, Ryan’s former coach and Alberta native Jaret Llewellyn broke the record back in 2002 with a jump of 71.7m.

“I've spent my whole life obsessed with flying farther than anyone in the world. I couldn't ask for a better day for my dream to come true than on Canada Day! I hope my leap inspires people to do what they love and work hard! Dream big, work hard and enjoy life!” Ryan Dodd
